Jul 2010 US oil giant Halliburton says its second-quarter profit has jumped
83 percent, despite because of the company's involvement in the Gulf of
Mexico oil spill volcano. The news caused Halliburton shares to soar 5
percent to $28.89 in Wall Street pre-opening trade on Monday, the Associated
Press reported. The oil giant's net income for the April-June period was
$480 million up from $262 million one year ago.

2010 British oil major BP PLC and partners China National Petroleum
Corp. and Iraq's state-run South Oil Co. expect to issue tenders to drill
between 80 and 100 wells in the immense Rumaila oil field this year and next
year, a company executive said Monday. Earlier this year, BP awarded three
deals valued at at least $500 million to drill 49 wells as part of the
program to develop Iraq's largest-producing oil field, which could become
the world's second-largest.
